Cars are one of those necessities of life that continue to, and probably always will mystify me. I'm the key in ignition, foot on accelerator, I don't care how it works as long as it works type of people. I reckon most women are... and a lot of men even though they may not want to admit it. Face it, nowdays cars are very, very complicated pieces of machinery. Stepping into the 'way back' machine and looking under the hood of a car, say, pre-70's and you'd get an entirely different picture. Cars were simpler then. Repairing cars was a much simpler process that most folks if they had the time and desire could probably accomplish, at least on a basic level. Not so easily anymore. Looking under the hood of modern cars is like looking at a maze of hoses, and wires hooked to whirling pieces of metal, or computer chip driven parts.
Car buying is a more complicated process now than it was in days past too. There are many more types of cars to decide on which is best, price ranges that go from as much as many people make in a year to as much as I spent on my house--and with those prices--ways to finance them that are almost as varied as a typical house mortgage can be.
Weeding your way through the jungle of car purchasing, and upkeep can be difficult when you have a lot of time, but if you're a busy career woman, or a busy mom with kids that keep you hopping from morning to night, you just might not have the time to know all there is to know to make the best decisions in regards to your transportation. If that's the case, and I know it is with most women, check out 'Automotive Advice for Women by Women'. In today's complicated world of automotive ownership it's nice to get all the help you can get.
